Breaking out of Comfort Zones

By karen | January 19, 2007

To the degree we’re not living our dreams, our comfort zone has more control of us than we have over ourselves.
–Peter McWilliams–

We all can get to a place where we are just too comfortable.  You get into a comfort zone and you don’t take new chances, look at new opportunities or do new things.  Life becomes stagnant and there is no way you can become all you can be.

Life is much more fun when you take a chance, try new things, ask for what you want and go for it.  When at least you are trying to make your dreams come true.

The person I’m trying to convince here must be me.  My husband and I are currently breaking out of our boxes and doing some things with our business that we’ve never done before.  It feels right.  It’s feels good.  It’s exciting. It’s exhilarating.

It is scary!

Yeah, I admit it.  I’m a little nervous.  Kevin is a little nervous.  But this is something we both have wanted.  This is something that can take our lives to the next level.  This is the next logical step in making our dreams come true.

I don’t ever want to live in a box, even if it is comfortable.  I want to dream and dare and go for it and make it happen.  I don’t think you ever regret the things you do and the things you try.  What you end up regretting are the things you didn’t dare to even try.  You regret the risks you didn’t take.

We all have a choice.  We can find a nice safe and comfortable place to hang our hat, where nothing much ever happens, exciting or otherwise and we will be comfortable.  We’ll be bored.  But we will be comfortable leading the life of quiet desperation that we have chosen.

Or we can take the chances, seize the opportunities, try new things and live a life of exhilaration.
You never know what will happen until you take the chance.  Break out of the box.  Get uncomfortable.  Only you can do what it takes to make your life dreams come true.

“All of our dreams can come true—If we have the courage to pursue them.”
