Success and the Laundry
By karen | February 2, 2007
It’s on my back, hanging on and holding me down, much like the proverbial monkey. I know it drains my energy. I struggle against it. I don’t know why. It’s just a part of life.
I’m talking about Dirty Laundry. No, No nothing so titillating as “dirty little secrets, dirty little lies” ala Don Henley,
No, nothing quite that exciting, not at all.
I’m talking about the everyday, mundane, everybody’s got it type of dirty laundry. Yes, that would be clothes that need to be washed. In my case it is an entire families clothes that need to be washed.
I can go on and on about why I hate laundry. The thing I hate the most is that you can’t just get it done already. No, No you must sort. Then you must wash. Then hours later you must dry and hours after that you must fold and put away. It takes all-day and then some, especially in my case.
I have to say that in all of those hours of getting it done I have been distracted to such an extent that it is often forgotten. Forgotten in the washer for days, (sure I’ll be embarrassed) and forgotten in the dryer for days (yeah, I’m embarrassed again). And I don’t even want to talk about the laundry baskets (ugh, I hate laundry baskets). No, No. You see my attentions are much more focused upon anything other than the laundry, as anything is much more fun, much more interesting, much more inviting.
But there is a consolation in all of this, a great truth that has come forth.
“Behind every successful woman is a pile of dirty laundry!”
Aha! I am vindicated!
Oh and by the way, that goes for men too. Laundry is an equal opportunity employer and my husband has my blessings, my permission and yes, even my encouragement to do the laundry anytime he wants to. And I do admit that he often does do the laundry.
So….
“Behind every successful human being is a pile of dirty laundry!”
Yes, that does sound better!

[…] Your subconscious mind has no sense of humor. It’s true; your subconscious mind cannot take a joke. Not only can it not take a joke it takes everything you say and everything you think as the “God’s Honest Truth”. And when you think you’re just joking around and you’re not really serious you just may be causing more damage than you know. […]

Amen, I hate laundry as well. I try to get my husband to do it every so often, or at least tackle it as a twosome.

Ahhh!!!! I’m not the only one!!! Ever had to rewash the load? Yep, me, too. Several times. For a while, I was forbidden from folding. My husband couldn’t take the way I folded, so only he would do it.
Now, it’s whoever can get to whatever can be gotten to!
