The Pursuit

By karen | April 6, 2007

I’m sure that almost everyone has at times wished for a crystal ball, just a vision into the future to know what was going to happen.

But we actually do have the gift of directions but the question becomes “do we follow our own guidance system with faith and trust to become all that we can be or do we hold on to the security of the past?”

Last night we watched a wonderful movie. It’s out on video now so if you haven’t seen it I would recommend it, “The Pursuit of Happyness”. It was wonderful and it was inspiring. But it also gave us something to think about and something to consider.

I’m going to try not to give too much away but Chris (the hero of the story) essentially had some “anchors” he was carrying around. Yet these anchors offered an illusion of security. It was an illusion based upon his past life and he had become and he was still becoming more. He was closer to all he could be and closer to having his dreams come true than the anchors could have ever offered him but he held on to the alleged security. The interesting thing about these “anchors” was that they were actually dragging him down and many times they even threatened his new life. He almost missed many important opportunities by chasing down these anchors. And even though the anchors did occasionally offer some perceived help, in the long run and even in the short run all they really did was weigh him down.

So how many times do we hold on to the perceived security of the past rather than let go of the anchors that are holding us back? The future and the flow of life is where everything we want is. Let go and go with the flow.

We have heard that the Universe knows the quickest, fastest, best way to get to our goals. We have heard that we don’t have to know “how” but that it will be presented to us. But no one mentioned that sometimes the “how” seems contrary to what you thought you wanted at least in the short term. They forgot to mention the anguish and turmoil that arises when you have an illusion of security but you’re not sure that you need to let go. Sometimes it can be scary to only be able to see so far into the future. What is going to happen? What will be? Que’ Sera’, Sera’.

Well like a very wise man said

“Take the first step in Faith.
You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
Martin Luther King

So perhaps we should consider if we are giving up what we want most for what we want at the moment. Sometimes the only thing to do is to let go of the anchors of the past so you can have the freedom to press on to the bright and wonderful future of your dreams.

This is just beautiful Karen. We all have to let go of our anchors and embrace life. Takes courage, but it is the only wat to truly live a free life.

You know it really does take courage to let go but we need to let go of what is holding us back so we can press on to the greater achievements!
Thanks for stopping by Alan! Your comments are always appreciated!

As a believer in the law of attraction I wonder if we really do have our own crystal ball (Our imagination).
