Daffodil
By karen | April 18, 2007
Years ago a friend sent me a story that touched my heart. It is the story of dreams and visions and the magnificence of what we can accomplish. It is the story of how one woman took one step at a time and created a glorious masterpiece of beauty for the world to enjoy.
In honor of spring I wanted to share it here so I did a little research online. I was happy to find out that it is actually a true story.
Starting in 1958, Alma “Gene” Bauer and her husband Dale set out to create their masterpiece. In the tough rocky soil on the slopes of the San Bernardino Mountains in Southern California the Bauer’s have created an amazing and spectacular achievement. For three weeks every spring for the price of free admission they share their labor of love with the world.
Over one million daffodil bulbs have been planted over 5 acres. Every spring the mountain explodes into a vision of unparalleled beauty. As Gene Bauer explains this magnificence was created by planting each bulb “one at a time, by one woman, two hands, two feet, and a very little brain”.
You can see some of the photos and read more about the Garden at The Daffodil Garden

So what could you accomplish if you took your dreams just one step at a time all the while loving the journey and using the time that you have wisely?
It could be magnificent!
