A Selfless Gift-Love goes round and round

By Mohammed | December 14, 2006

My very dear friends daughter is giving an extraordinarily selfless gift to a new friend this Christmas Season.  Next week she is donating one of her kidneys to save her fiancee’ sisters life.

Just over 18 months ago, April was living in Phoenix, a single mom with two young sons.  She was struggling to make ends meet, having difficulty with employment and other challenges that young people face.  She was far away from her family and looking for a more positive direction for her life.

Her Mom helped her make the move back home and April was ready to make a new start.

Little did she know that soon she would meet Duane.  Not only did April fall in Love but she met the Love of her Life.  He loved her and he loved her boys.  Her dreams were all coming true. They are planning a spring wedding and their Joy is delicious.  They are so happy to be joining their lives with the commitment of marriage.

But along with their joy in their own happiness came some worry and concern over Duane’s sister.  She needed a kidney transplant to save her life.  Since a transplant requires a very strict match of both blood and tissues, it is often the case that only a family member can donate.  However, none of Duane’s family was a match.

But something inspired April to be tested, to offer the selfless gift of a functioning kidney to her soon to be new sister-in-law.  And by some miracle she was a perfect match.

The donation will take place next week, the week before Christmas 2006.

Both April and her new sister will always remember this special Christmas when synchronicity brought them together and one woman’s life was saved and the other gave a wonderfully selfless gift.

Not only did April find a great love with Duane but she was also able to give back a great love not only to Duane but to her new sister-in-law and her new family.

Love goes round and round.  May April’s gift inspire us all to give more Love this Christmas.

April’s one special person. Very few of us will even consent to be tested for the match, let alone become a kidney donor. G-d should bless her and take care of her.
