Modeling Other People

By Mohammed | December 6, 2006

One of the most famous “Guru’s” in the personal development field has always recommended “modeling” the success of other people.  That means copying their actions to create the same type of success.

It sounds good in theory and it can work.  But one person can do exactly the same things as another person and have radically different results.  One person may create massive success and the other one, who is doing the same exact actions, may create massive failure.

There was a time when I didn’t understand this at all.  I mean it seems that if you throw enough stuff at a wall, some of it will stick.  But now it is so clear to me.

The reasons for differences in success have nothing to do with the “actions” taken.  Each person can take identical “actions” but have very different results.  The differences come down to our thoughts and our beliefs.  The differences come down to our vibrations.

We live in a vibrational Universe. The vibrations we have come from our thoughts and our beliefs.  We will only attract as high as we vibrate.  If we vibrate success we will attract success and by the same token, if we vibrate a non-belief in ourselves, our businesses or our actions we will only attract what we believe and we will only attract what we habitually think which in that case was not success. If we think that we don’t deserve success or that for some insane reason we can’t have success it doesn’t matter how much “action” or “modeling” of other successful people we do we will not create success.  It defies the Laws of the Universe.

So I am going to respectfully disagree with the “modeling” concept.  Not because it doesn’t work–sometimes it does, but you or I can never truly know what another person is thinking, believing and vibrating so how can you model that?

Once again our vibrations are in tune. With modeling people can learn new skills, which are important for success.

I too think that thinking for succcess proceeds and determines success. Successful attitudes and vibrations are necessary to breathe life into behavior learned through modeling.

What do you think about modeling thoughts, attitudes and vibrations? If we knew a person’s genuineness, passion and commitment to their thoughts, attitudes, and vibrations, would modeling result in success?

Absolutely! That is the missing ingredient. It is also the most important ingredient! If we could model not only the actions but also the thoughts, attitudes and vibrations of a successful person we could create the same success or even more. I love your analogy of the successful attitudes and vibrations “breathing Life” into the behavior learned from modeling. Yes, that is how we bring our success to life!

Wouldn’t it be then that modeling does work, but only if our own vibrations are in tune with the universe?
