Mixed Signals
By Mohammed | April 11, 2007Human beings are always making contingency plans. You know the ones that say, “well if this doesn’t work out I’ll do that, and if that doesn’t work out I can do this other thing and no matter what happens I have a plan”.
Most of us were taught to make contingency plans from well-meaning authority figures in our lives. It was usually part of the food, lodging and lessons program we all signed onto at birth.
But there is a problem with making contingency plans, a big problem. When you always have a backup plan in case something goes wrong you are sending out the signal to the Universe that you are lacking in Faith. Not only that you are also sending out mixed signals so anything that you do happen to manifest is diluted from its original power and potential and there is always that fact that what you create may well turn out to be the contingency rather than the dream because that is where the majority of your attention is.
The Universe is not making judgments and considering what it is you really want. The Universe is only responding to your thoughts, feelings and vibrations. So if you are making contingency plans where are all of your thoughts, feelings and vibrations? They are not firmly on the dream so how can the Universe guide and direct you to the right actions if the goal is not clear?
There is no reason to make contingency plans if you really want the dream. If you really want the end result or the amazing outcome that you say you are shooting for, then you need to focus all of your attention, thoughts, feelings and vibrations on the final outcome. Don’t worry about the “hows”, and don’t even consider that it might not work out. If it makes you feel any better consider that if it doesn’t work out you can make your plans of what you will do when and if that happens instead of ahead of time. The contingency is not what you want anyway so why spend any time or energy on it at all? Your time and energy is better spent on thinking, dreaming and knowing, absolutely knowing with 100% faith that you will achieve the dream that you want.
The Universe has a way of providing everything that we need when we come from a place of Faith. If you look into your heart and into your past you know that happens. Things always have a way of working out. When someone says “if I can only make it to the end of the month” they always do “make it to the end of the month”. And when someone says, “well if this doesn’t work out, I’ll have to do that” they oftentimes end up doing “that” instead of the “this” which is what they really wanted.
So if you really want to create the life of your dreams, you need to pump up your Faith, you need to only focus upon the outcome, stop trying to make it happen and let it happen and stop making contingencies!

Karen,
I couldn’t agree more. I don’t see this as much in my life with plans of action, but rather with how certain people will (or will not) respond to certain situations.
My wife and I have a very consistent group of friends that we see or correspond with frequently, but many of them won’t even embrace positive thinking, let alone the Law of Attraction.
People are always trying to say things like, “I am going to tell her this, but if…”, or “If it was up to me we would do this, but…”
People keep thinking that what happens with other people will make or break their own happiness, which is, of course, ridiculous.
I always take the attitude of “This is how I feel, and this is what I am going to do. If you don’t like it or don’t believe that it will be successful, that is okay. I’m going to do it anyway.”
I never have a back up plan because being the LOA believer that I am, I never stop following my bliss, so I know my plan will never fail.

Yes, happiness is definitely an inside job! It doesn’t matter what others say or do or what happens outside of you happiness comes from the inside!
Have you seen the Live the Power presentation? There is a part that says “Follow your Bliss” with the most awesome photo of red rocks in Antelope Canyon. Thanks for reminding me! and thanks for stopping by!
Your plan is failproof!

Thank you for this ever-so-important reminder. This is something I’ve been thinking about and this post has confirmed what I’ve believed all along!

Thanks, Maria! You were right all along. We need to focus only, only upon the outcome that we want. No need to make any other plans because what we want will manifest!

When it comes to chasing your dreams contingency plans are no good, the mere consideration of failure can bring everything down. Its best to burn our ships and never look back. Wonderful post.

Absolutely! You know Napoleon Hill wrote about burning your bridges in “Think and Grow Rich”. He’s right. Leave no room for retreat!

Absolutely! If we think about what we don’t want that is what we are creating. I’m with you all the way on this one.
