Changing Realities
By Mohammed | May 19, 2007There is an old story that has been told around for years and years. You may have heard it before and since don’t have the story in front of me I will just give a short synopsis from memory here. There was a woman who was cooking a roast for her family. She took the roast and she cut off both of the ends before she put it into the roasting pan. Her husband, or daughter or somebody asked her “Why? Why do you cut off the ends of the roast before you put it into the pan?” She didn’t have an answer. She didn’t know. But she knew that her mother had done it before her so she called her mother. Her Mother did not know. But her Mother remembered that her own mother had done it before her so she knew that there must have been a good reason. So the Mother called her own mother and asked the question of the day “Why do you cut the ends off from the roast before you cook it? Surely there must be some valid and important reason for doing so. Perhaps it makes the meat more tender? Perhaps it makes the roast cook more effectively? Why do you cut the ends off from the roast?” Her mother thought for a few moments and then she laughed out loud at their ludicrous question. Finally when she was finished laughing she responded with this profound reason “When I was first married the only roasting pan that I owned was a little bit too small so I had to cut the ends off from the roast so it would fit into the pan.”
So how many of the beliefs that you have about Life and how Life is are just as silly as why they cut the ends off from the roast? There was no valid reason for cutting the ends off yet they continued to do so out of ignorance. Ignorance as in they never asked the question of “why” they just blindly accepted that that was the way it was done.
So what ridiculous beliefs do you have that are holding you back?
Do you have some beliefs that deserve questioning? Can they stand up to questioning? Just like the roast, the answer is probably not!
You create your own reality with your own thoughts, beliefs, actions, and vibrations. If you are not pleased and happy with where your life is at the moment it is because of your own thoughts, beliefs and vibrations from the past. If you want your life to change the worst thing that you can do is to focus upon your current reality. Of course there are things that you must take care of but you do not have to think about and worry and fret about what is going on now. Now will soon change. Create your fabulous future in your own mind and hang out there.
An excellent example of this occurred to me this morning. Last night I loaded up the dishwasher but I forgot to turn it on. Therefore when I got up this morning there were no clean dishes. Now of course, I feel no emotion about dirty dishes so I just started the dishwasher and now in a little while I will have clean dishes. Voila’ my future is changed.
But so many of us have created a reality that is perhaps not exactly what we want at this point, things like overweight bodies or empty bank accounts. But rather than unemotionally taking care of what we need and focusing on the future that we really do want we tend to get caught up in the “agony” of what is. We moan and complain and worry and fret and all we are really doing is creating more of “what is”. Think about it. If I had stepped into my kitchen and bemoaned the fact that the dishes were not washed by saying and thinking and adhering to the false beliefs that “oh no, the dishes are dirty, I can’t change this, what am I going to do, my life is over, nothing will ever change”. My dishes would still be dirty and until I changed my thoughts, my words, my ridiculous beliefs and “got my head out…(of the sand, of course! What were you thinking?)” and started the dishwasher I would still have dirty dishes. Starting the dishwasher changed everything.
And so if you are not happy about your current reality, do what you have to do then release it, let go of the false and limiting beliefs and focus, think, and believe ONLY, ONLY upon what you want in your life.
That is how you create your Life, the Life that you want!

Thanks for a great story. This one really made me laugh. It is so true; we blindly accept so many things as fact, even when they create useless/time consuming rituals.
