Repeaters

By Mohammed | June 20, 2007

The admonishment rings in my ears and my mind, “Never say Never”. The assertion was that as soon as you declared that something that you didn’t want would “never” happen again you were destined to repeat it, some kind of black magic, voodoo, witchcraft spell kind of thing. It wasn’t really but it seemed like that.

And the fact was that it seemed to be true. Heck, it is true. Think about it. How many times have you or someone you know repeated mistakes and situations? You just get over something and vow that it will never, never, never happen again, never as long as you live and soon there it is again-the dreaded repeater!

“This is marriage number 6, you say, and the problem was always the other person? They were all different, you say?”

“Bad service at 5 restaurants and 6 stores? Why would they treat you so poorly?

“Sick again? Why does that always happen to you?”

“Financial problems again? You don’t deserve that!”

“Again? Why, oh why, does this keep happening to you?”

And what is the common denominator?

You.

You are the only common denominator.

The fact is that it is like a crash diet. Everyone knows of people who have lost a lot of weight by a crash diet. But even though weight is lost as soon as the person goes back to their old habits the weight returns. It’s inevitable. In order to keep the weight off you have to change your lifestyle.

And in order to avoid those dreaded repeaters, you have to change your thought process. You have to change your vibrations. You have to change those deep-seated beliefs that are creating the situations you don’t want.

If you keep thinking the same thoughts, especially those deep thoughts and beliefs that are out of your level of awareness, you will keep getting the same results. The new relationship look like a different package, might look more beautiful, might feel different but the problems in the relationship will be similar even as it is different. The new job will be in a different location but the energies will be similar. The financial problems will come in a different envelope but they are essentially the same.

In order to change something up for good and forever it takes more than a vow of “never”. In fact the vow of “never” probably hurts you more than it helps you because you are still in the same vibration.

You have to change your vibrations to more of what you are wanting and less of what you are not wanting. When you are declaring “never” what are you mostly focused upon? That’s right. You are mostly focused upon what you “Do Not Want”. In order to change things you have to focus more upon “What You Do Want”. And it doesn’t really help to try to change the thoughts because as you are trying to change them you are giving them energy.

The best strategy is to replace the thoughts that are holding you back. Replace those beliefs that are causing the dreaded repeaters with beliefs and thoughts that can bring you to a place where you are creating the life that you do want and then those dreaded repeaters will become a thing of the past. You can start creating good repeaters. You can start creating more and more of what you want in your life.

It takes consciousness, consciousness of your thoughts and beliefs, consciousness of how you sabotage yourself. It also takes consciousness of your own responsibility for your own creations. You are responsible for the life that you have. Yes, everything. Period.

After all, you are the only common denominator.

    Hi there:

What a very interesting post! There it is again, the word “YOU.” I’ve written about this in my blog and have seen it in many others.

It is YOU who is responsible for the outcome in your life. How very true!

Thanks for a great write up! I’d like to invite you to consider the possibility of participating in my interactive tagging experiment over at Adversity University where I’m asking bloggers to write about how they deal with adversity because it does not discriminate – it affects all of us and since you write so well, I’d love to have you be a part of my experiment. You can find more information over here at:
