The Aquarius Myth
By karen | June 3, 2007I have one sister, no brothers. It was just the two of us, separated by 8 ½ years. The story is that I was an only child when I was little; she was an only child as a teenager. The difference in years seemed large at that time, not so much now. It seems that adults become the same age.
My sister was born “when the moon is in the seventh house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars”. Yes, she was born in the “Age of Aquarius”. Not only that she is an Aquarius, born in mid February 1970. I was just a little girl, learning about life and how it was. Not sure I knew anything of great value at age 8 but I had made some keen observations. For instance, one of my observations was that “The 5th Dimension” was singing on the radio about the “Age of Aquarius” and nobody was singing about my zodiac sign or any of the others. So being the smart little girl that I was I reached the conclusion that my sister was special because the song was about her. The rest of us were not quite as special because nobody was singing about us on the radio.
Of course, I know now that it didn’t mean anything. It was just a song. It was just for entertainment purposes. But as a young girl I did not have the experience to realize this. I didn’t share my feelings with my parents at the time. I knew that they would tell me I was silly and I would then feel foolish and that would have just confirmed my suspicion about the Aquarius thing. In fact this is probably the first time I have shared this story.
But this is just an extreme example of some of the myths and beliefs that we grow up with that can hold us back.
Remember the story about “the Princess and the Pea”. The way you can tell a real princess is that she is the only one who can feel a tiny pea underneath about 10 mattresses. Yeah right. I don’t even believe that so obviously I am not a princess. Never really thought I was but it’s one of those myths again.
Today I came across another myth, a crazy myth. It said “A writer has to write 1,000,000 words before they can write anything worth reading”.
Alrighty then.
Well that lets me out. I forgot to count my words. I have no idea if I have written more or less so apparently I’m out of the game. Sorry, I guess I’m done here. I’ll start counting the words and get back to you in a few years after I have written a 1,000,000 words. Maybe then I can write something “worth reading”.
In the mean time, thank you for being here, thank you for reading!

Hi Karen.
You’re right; our biggest limitation is us; specifically, how we think.
Took a stroll around your site.
Congratulations; it’s fantastic.
Keep up the great work.
Craig.

Sure, I have loads of those nasty limiting beliefs. I have just released a BIG one, the “no pain no gain” belief. Don’t worry about the 1,000,000 words, you already are a wonderful writer Karen

I’d say that given the impact your words have had, you must have written at least 2,000,000 words by now….
Hugs.
