The Leap of Faith

By Mohammed | June 21, 2007

Empowering Thought:

“When you get more of what you want the world gets more of what it wants”

Think about it in terms of famous people that we all know of.

Steven Speilberg wanted to entertain us at the movies.

Stephen King wanted to scare the living daylights out of us with his stories.

Michael Jordan wanted to play basketball better than anyone else.

Nicole Kidman wanted to be an actress.

J.K. Rowling wanted to write children’s books.

And you have to admit that the world has enjoyed all of those people. The world has enjoyed their work immensely. They have made an impact by following their hearts and their passions.

And there is a place for everyone and for everyone’s desires and talents.

Even you. Even me.

Today I am going to spend a wonderful day with my family at the Arts Festival. I love the arts festival. The arts festival brings me and the other festival attendees joy and pleasure. It is also wonderfully clear to me that the featured artists followed their own joys and their own passions in creating their art and bringing it to the world.

“Follow your Bliss and the Universe will open doors for you where there were only walls”
Joseph Campbell
1904-1987

So is life really that simple?

It is. It is. It must be.

This keeps coming to me over and over in the past few weeks, months, even a year. It is sometimes different words, different messengers but the sentiment is the same.

“When you get more of what you want the world gets more of what it wants”

and

“Your work is to discover your work and then with all your heart give yourself to it”
-Buddha

Is it true? Is life really that simple? There are real life examples. I write about it. I write about it a lot. But like many (probably) I often feel some resistance in my own life.

Is it time to take a leap of faith?

“How” can it happen? I don’t know.

Perhaps that is a blessing in disguise. You don’t have to know “how”, you just have to “allow”.

How do you take that leap of faith?

I’ve taken the leap…am still in the middle of one right now. The other day someone said to me that I was their “fearless leader.” EEK!! Wow..what a misunderstanding of how it goes for me.

I get terrified at times to take the leap…sift and sort and try to “do the right thing.” But there comes a time when there is no going back, no holding back and the leap, like in the Tarot trump of The Fool, I just step and open.

One of my Teachers once said that excitement is fear without the breath. I breathe way lots.

    Hugs to you!!

And, Karen…what leap are you creating/entering now?

Fear is excitement without the breath sounds about right! I know yoga poses and everything else works better when you breath!
My leap is probably more mental!
