Karen, thank you so much for your response. As far as I have figured it out for myself, I absolutely agree: spending time with myself is key right now. How else will I know what it is I want? You confirmed this. (Common sense is sometimes so difficult when you are standing on the inside, isn't it? LOL!)

Blessings to you, for all the light you share!

Kimberly
that is a great point to actually feel grateful for the fear, to acknowledge your emotional reactions is so valuable.

Great post! I love the idea of releasing the fear and then doing it--that's such a productive way to create positive experiences. I think it's important to stress (as you've done) that doing isn't the answer, thinking is because if we move forward while thinking fearful and/or negative things about the experience, we will attract fearful and/or negative things from the experience.

I would add that a good first step to releasing fear is being grateful for it, because fear is the way we consciously connect with thoughts that are attracting displeasing things. So if we say, "Thank you fear for pointing out where I need to change my focus! I'm aware of it now so I don't need the fear anymore," we can start releasing the fear of being afraid.

Thank you Theresa!
I think you have hit upon the very essence of the Law of Attraction in that it is a matter of tapping into your own Power and defining and focusing on what you truly want.....
Congratulations on quitting smoking! It sounds as if you tapped into your own power and really got the answers on how to do it!

P.S. there is more LOA stuff in the archives....

Hi Karen – Thanks for your site! I stumbled across it today. Oddly, someone bought me a copy of The Secret CD, and I've been listening to it on the way to and from work the last couple days. It’s kind of interesting that I ended up bumping into the same topic.

So I’m not one of those people to instantly take to that kind of philosophy. In fact, I did a lot of eye rolling when first listening to that CD. But something about it clicked in me yesterday – not that I was going to be “into” some totally new idea, but it hit me how important it was for me to really “get” that my power to have what I wanted was in my ability to define that very thing - what I wanted.

I needed to become very clear about what “it” was. Like most people, there are a lot of things that I am not satisfied with in my life. But have you ever forced yourself to answer the question “WHAT DO YOU WANT?” It’s not easy. It's so incredible to me that someone could back me into a corner with that question and I would not be able to answer it. Really answer it deeply. So I practically yelled it at myself. I could easily list all the things I hated, all of the negative things I was not satisfied with, but couldn’t really say what I DID want.

So that’s the first challenge. Not list the things you don’t want, the things you fear, the things you regret….. Those are all negative ideas that always get in your way. Define in very clear terms what you WANT. And then your power to “attract” lies in that clarity.

So for example I quit smoking very recently. I didn’t say “I don’t want to smoke anymore.” I didn’t want the word “smoke” to be in my mantra. And that’s not what I wanted anyway. That was what I didn’t want. So I said to myself – WHAT DO YOU WANT? Then I answered - I WANT to feel healthy. I want to feel vital, I want to take deep, cleansing breaths, I want to feel strong, and energetic, and alive when I wake up in the morning, and I want to have my day filled with a sort of physical energy that I have never experienced. So now, all my behavior lines up to that end, to “attract” what it is that I really want. The difference mentally in how I feel about that once I defined it is pretty amazing.

Thanks again for the reinforcements!

Hi Pippa,
I think you answered your own question. If you look at real life you will see that many people repeat the same relationship mistakes again and again. It just comes dressed in a different package! They haven't changed their vibration therefore they are attracting the same thing over and over again.
Also, if you are still feeling regret over a past relationship you are not able to give your all to a new relationship. Best to let go of the regret before trying again!
The best way to change it around is to spend some time with just yourself. Start putting out your intent for what you do want in a relationship but make sure you are visualizing the "wants" instead of the "don't wants". Just clarify it until it feels good and then let go. Clear your mind. Know that it will happen and tell yourself you will recognize this person when he shows up.
Then let it go and trust....
It worked for me and that was long before I had learned as much as I have about LOA. Great Love exists (I experience it every day!) but like everything in life you have to open up your heart and soul and let it in.

Karen, I am still a very ignorant newbie to the Law of Attraction. Does this mean that, to use a very personal example, if I carry an inward struggle with regret over having broken a previous relationship, then I will attract this into my present relationship?
As far as I have experienced, yes, it might just be, to answer my own question. Now I struggle with regret over TWO broken relationships.
I would love to hear your opinion, please, and how to change this around.

Love and joy,
Pippa
