A Powerful Question
By Mohammed | February 19, 2008Sunday afternoon tends to be a lazy and relaxed time at my house. Not much going on. This past weekend of course, the NBA All-Star game was on and even though my girls are not quite as into it as my son used to be we still watched.
Except me. I had my nose buried in a book as usual. This one was a short but very powerful read. I thought I would share parts of it. It will make you think and it will help you clarify some of the most important things in your life.
It starts with a question.
Imagine that you are on your deathbed. It could be 50 years from now or even today (that part is irrelevant at least until you get to the resistance part!). As you are looking back on your life you ask yourself….
“Was my life a complete Success?”
Yes?
No?
Yes on some things, No on others seems to be the typical answer from most people.
But think about the “No’s”. Think about the reasons why your life would not have been a complete success. Are there things that you want to “be, do and have” that you haven’t achieved yet? Are there people with whom you have loose ends? Are there things that you would love to do in your life that you haven’t even tried yet?
Reflect on your answer, “my life was not a complete success because…..”
Now turn it around. What can you do today to change that deathbed wish? What actions, thoughts, words, deeds will you need to find in order to change that around?
And as with many things you may not have a clue as to what you can do this red-hot minute. But you can start with a mindset, an affirmation to achieve. You can start with the affirmations and move onto the visualizations. You will begin to attract the way and the “how”.
And though you may not know now how you can achieve it, you are creating a great first step. Clarity is a good beginning. As the days flow into years you will find the way and when the time comes the true experience of your deathbed questions will give you a different answer.
This next part was not included in the book but I believe that it is just as valuable to take the time for the other side.
Think about the “Yes’s”. Think about the things that you already have that makes your life a success. As you are imagining the end of your life what are the things that you are grateful for? What do you appreciate in your life?
The Universe loves Gratitude. Gratitude is also a wonderful cue back to the Universe that says “I love this, I enjoy this, I appreciate this, Send me more, more, more!”

I have been out of circulation for a while, and then I come back to such an enormous question! Wow, Karen, that really requires some thought.
My first response was “Argh!” … because I can’t say that I am happy with my life. THANK YOU SO MUCH for asking the second question as well, to focus on the Yes’s, too. I realize there are things I feel proud of in my life as well.
It has refocused me on how I want to end my life, what sense of accomplishment I would want to feel, and for which things. Will ponder this some more and report back!
Thank you for this all-important, powerful prompt!
Love,
Pippa
