The Power of the Mind

By Mohammed | May 12, 2009

We have the power to control our mind, but how exactly can we control it?

There are two ways, one is popular in the West and one is popular in the East.

In the West, it is common to take as much information into a situation. By using past experience, knowledge and advice from others, we fill our mind so that we can find the answers we need.

In the East, it is common to enter a situation as freshly as possible. The term clearing your mind is essential here. Any knowledge, experience and advice has little value, as this situation is new and nothing like it has or ever will happen again. The answer comes from within and a mind full of thoughts will not allow it to surface.

To have true power of the mind, it is essential to be able to choose which approach is best for the given situation. In some cases, one is better. In other cases, the other method is better.

Take some time to try both of these methods. Which one suits you best?

If there is a situation in which you have struggled for a long time, try using the other perspective, as this will help you to find your solution easier.

    Dear Sir/ Madam,

I thank you for providing this article. It’s better to tell full picture. It’s better to give choice to individual. It’s better to to encourage one to take decision and to do experiment and keep on moving forward in ones own choosen path in ones own way. All such good things are done in this article.

With Regards and Best Wishes … from … udaycj

Both eastern and western methods have their own advantages and disadvantages. The best course will be a combination of the two systems. Assimilate as much as information as you can related to a subject or an aspect. Thereafter suspend all the beliefs, fears, expectations and prejudices and let the things flow from within, and the results will be the best ever, far better than as obtained by applying either of the method.

I think a clear mind with the knowledge of what you know is the most powerful way. It’s almost impossible NOT to use what you already know but it is not really the best idea to just use what you have already found.

As Anil said use a bit of both but try and keep a clear mind. Although sometimes things may seem similar they often are different!

    Good article!
