Ego Trappings

Big Ego’s……Huge Ego’s…….Egomaniac…….

And usually the first thing that we think of is the people who seem to have a high self-esteem, the people who put on the delusions of grandeur, the braggarts. The people who seem to know all of their strengths and don’t seem to have any weaknesses (at least that they are aware of) and they flaunt it! Is it the flaunting that bothers us or is it the perception that on some level we think they think they are better than us?

Well here is a radical new way to look at it. What if it wasn’t their egos at all but rather our own ego’s that were the problem?

Our egos don’t just tell us when we are great and amazing and wonderful, our egos also tell us when we are making mistakes, when we are performing at “less than” and not measuring up to arbitrary standards.

It is our own egos that compel us to compare ourselves with others. Your own ego is the only part of you that points out the faults, the blunders, the perceived defects of yourself and of other people. If you are indulging in self-criticism or criticism of another, it is not the other person’s ego that is hurting you. It is your own ego that is causing you pain.

Your own ego is what traps you into a life of mediocrity. Your own ego is what holds you back from being all that you can be.

Your Inner Being knows how amazing and wonderful and worthy you are. The Source of All that is, whether you call that God, the Universe or any other name, knows how amazing and wonderful and worthy you are. You are a much beloved and adored child of the Universe. Your worthiness, perfection and potential are never in doubt to your spiritual self. Your spiritual self recognizes your glory and the glory of every one else.

Your own ego is the only part of you that does not recognize your magnificence.

[...] I have a life assignment for you. It is a simple assignment. But I am forewarning you that even though it is simple it will not always be easy. Sometimes it will be downright difficult. There will be times when your own ego trappings will conspire to keep you in your previous mediocrity. If you listen to other people they may also try to trap you and keep you where you have always been. And the most difficult of all will be the unconscious beliefs and programs that will come to the surface as you follow through with the assignment that you will need to break through. But you have the strength within you to overcome any of these problems if you choose to accept the assignment and take your own life to the highest levels. [...]
