The Law Of Increase

By Mohammed | July 23, 2010

dl-gere-sIn the 11 Forgotten Laws Bob Proctor and Mary Morrissey discuss the fifth Law of the Universe, the Law of Increase.

The simplest definition of this law is to call it the law of praise. Whatever you praise, grows.

Bob Proctor gave a very good example of this law in action. He was at the airport and there were sniffer dogs. When one dog found someone who was carrying an illegal item, the dog handler then gave that dog a small biscuit. By praising the dog and rewarding it this way, the dog would have an increased desire to do this next time.

There are numerous other examples of this law in action. There was a gentleman who would help waitresses double their tips. He told them that all they needed to do was send a wave of praise before they approached the table that they were serving. This worked well for all of the waitresses and they more than doubled their tips.

The reason why this happened is simple. There was a study done at Penn State University that looked at what happens to our physiology when we express gratitude. When the subjects showed appreciation and expressed gratitude verbally, their blood pressure, stress levels lowered and general level of wellbeing increased.

Although the application of this Law is declining in the Western World, there are certain parts of the world where it is widely applied.  In Buddhist society, for example, giving praise and expressing gratitude is known as Bodhicitta and is practiced strongly today.

Take some time today to apply the Law of Increase. Send a wave of praise to anyone you are about to interact with, verbally express gratitude and appreciation and, as a result, see how your level of wellbeing improves.
