The Law Of Non-Resistance

By Mohammed | July 28, 2010

Abraham-LincolnIn the 11 Forgotten Laws Bob Proctor and Mary Morrissey discuss the seventh Law of the Universe, the Law of Non-Resistance.

Bob Proctor once asked a group of young adults what the difference was between reacting and responding. A young lady gave Bob an enlightened answer. She said that reacting was out of habit, whilst you had to think about how you want to respond.

This is the basis of this law. Most of the time, we are habitually reacting to events and circumstances in our life, with such statements as ‘it’s too good to be true’ or ‘cannot last.’ This shuts out the law of non-resistance because so many of our conditioned paradigms work against the law.

By responding, however, you can work in harmony with the law and think of a solution that is compatible with who you really are.

Mary Morrissey describes how this law works very well. She says to imagine that you are like a small stream. At the beginning, when you start something new, you will find rocks and boulders in your way. However, as the stream grows into a river, these obstacles disappear. Likewise, we often always find obstacles at the start and once we have momentum on our side, these obstacles disappear.

The best way to deal with an obstacle is illustrated in this story. During Abraham Lincoln’s presidency, he had many fierce critics. One day, a lady said ‘President Lincoln, why don’t you just defeat your critics.’ Lincoln replied, ‘If I befriend my enemies, have I not defeated them?’ Lincoln knew that by blessing his critics and disarming the hatred and anger in them, he could win them over to his side. In fact, Lincoln even asked some of his ‘enemies’ to be in his Government. The next time you are faced with a challenge, bless it and win it over to your side. By doing this, it will go from being an obstacle to a stepping stone.

Take some time today to apply the Law of Non-Resistance. What are you resisting in your life? Take some time today to see if you react or respond to situations. If you react, take a deep breath, respond and see how much easier it is when working with the law.
