The Law of Sacrifice

By Mohammed | August 3, 2010

sacrificeIn the 11 Forgotten Laws Bob Proctor and Mary Morrissey discuss the ninth Law of the Universe, the Law of Sacrifice.

We have been conditioned to believe that sacrificing means giving something up or losing something. Bob Proctor tells us that this definition is inaccurate and incomplete. Sacrificing means giving up something of lesser value, for something of greater value.

We live in an advanced world where the benefits of sacrifice are all around us. The doctors who cure us sacrificed so many years of study to acquire their healing skills. The sports people we watch sacrificed hours on end to master their sports. The musicians we listen to sacrificed so much to master their voice and their instruments.

Bob Proctor argues that we use this law in every area except one, our thinking. In order to be truly fulfilled, we must sacrifice time and effort to study and life and to understand the laws that govern us. This is a sacrifice very few people make, but one of the most important ones that there is.

Applying the Law of Sacrifice is very easy and practical. Bob Proctor once consulted for an insurance company. Bob found that of the 5,000 sales people, only 3% of sales people were actually face-to-face with a prospect by noon. Furthermore, only a few sales people were asking the clients to buy policies that had a value of over $100,000 – which is enough to provide a good coverage to the client.

Bob suggested that for a short period of time, everyone make two sacrifices. Firstly, every sales person needed to be in front of a prospect by noon and, secondly, every sales person needed to ask the prospect if they wanted a policy that covered them for over $100,000. This sacrifice resulted in the company earning hundreds of million dollars in revenue and the sales people earning bigger commissions.

Applying the Law of Sacrifice is easy and takes just 3 steps:

1. Decide what you want.
2. Be realistic on where you are and what you have.
3. Decide what you are willing to sacrifice to get what you want.

Take some time to consider how you can use the Law of Sacrifice in your life.
