One Dinner, Five Guests, Five Lessons
By karen | May 30, 2007
Okay, you captured my attention.
Shama Hyder has invited some bloggers to have dinner. Our assignment is to consider five people, alive or already passed, whom we would choose to have dinner with.
So as I mentioned it didn’t take long for my imagination to go wild. It didn’t take long for me to come up with my list. I guess I’m lucky as for the most part my dinner could actually take place. Four out of my five people are still alive. The other one will be joining us in spirit.
This is who is coming to my dinner. These are people that I admire because of their passion and their joy in how they live their lives.
1. Louise Hay. Author and Founder of Hay House Publishing. Louise Hay was writing and speaking about how our thoughts create our lives long before it became mainstream. She didn’t start out to build an empire. She started out with a small pamphlet about how our thoughts create our lives and how we can heal ourselves. That pamphlet became the international bestseller “You can Heal your Life” selling more than 30 million copies. At 79 years old she recently started Ballroom Dancing and Painting. She still works full time at Hay House and Hay House is the publisher for many, many other wonderful authors. Louise Hay is somebody I absolutely and truly admire. She lives with Love. She lives with Joy. She is an inspiration.
2. Stuart Wilde. Anyone who reads my blog probably knows that I love books and I love words, so it is of no surprise to me that I am including another author at my dinner. Stuart Wilde has written fifteen books on consciousness and awareness and creating our best lives. He makes me laugh and he writes with a wit and irreverence that I find fun and inspirational. Stuart can come to dinner and make us all laugh.
3. Oprah. I believe that Oprah lives from her heart. I believe that Oprah lives with Joy and Love. I think that is why she is so successful. She has taken her gifts and turned them into more than even she could imagine. She has expressed that “God has a bigger plan for your life than you even know and you just need to let go and let it happen”. Of course I am paraphrasing, as I don’t have the exact quote. But I think I understand and I expressed the gist of it.
4. Esther Hicks. Okay, we’ll just get a bigger table so we can include her husband Jerry Hicks and Abraham. The teachings of Abraham have impacted my life in such an incredibly positive way. Everything from Abraham that I hear and read feels like I already knew it deep in my soul but it was just forgotten. Abraham’s teachings have been one of the most cherished gifts of my life. I would love to be in their presence for dinner.
5. Peace Pilgrim. I was not aware of Peace Pilgrim until I was putting together the Live the Power presentation. The quote that I included in the presentation was so powerful.
Peace Pilgrim
1908-1981
Peace Pilgrim was a woman who walked over 25,000 miles across the U.S. from the period of 1953 to 1981 spreading her message that “This is the way of Peace: Overcome evil with good, falsehood with truth, and hatred with love.”
Peace Pilgrim was an amazing woman who truly lived by her convictions
Excerpted from the free pamphlet “Steps Toward Inner Peace”
By Peace Pilgrim
I would love to have Peace Pilgrim to dinner. I would love to hear the stories of her life.
Well it is going to be quite the celebration of Life! It is going to be quite the celebration of Joy!
I am off to plan the menu!
