Magic Dust

“You gotta work hard for money”
“You gotta work hard for money”

How many of you have heard that one? It’s a pretty common sentiment.

Now how many of you believe that one? Probably many.

I grew up believing that. It’s what I saw (no, I don’t mean the “money” part, just the “hard worker” part).

And I grew up and I worked hard, really hard. I thought if I work hard enough, I’ll be okay, maybe even well-to-do, can you say “rich”?

Burned the candle at both ends. Early in the morning, till late at night. When I was a single mom, I took my son with me. He worked hard, too. (Not really, he mostly just sat there and looked cute, but the clients loved him!)

Often I did the things that the other people wouldn’t do. I thought if I do this, surely I’ll find success.

But then I would see other people who seemed to be having massive success and they took time off to play Tennis, every day, Golf, every other day. They played and they enjoyed their lives all the while creating exactly what I wanted so badly and was working so hard for. I wondered “were they just lucky?”. When I discussed it with some others I often heard “well, they paid their dues, they used to work as hard as you but now they don’t have to”.

That explanation was sufficient for awhile. Till somebody new came along and started doing amazingly well right out of the box and it was obvious they didn’t work as hard as I was working.

And none of this seemed fair. What was up? Were these successful people just born under the lucky star?

It’s true, the successful people who don’t seem to work hard really don’t work hard.

They don’t have to.

They have learned a more powerful lesson, a better way.

They have learned to leverage energy and to deliberately create their lives.

They might not know it. Many of them don’t. But when they say that the “business just falls into my lap” they are not lying. It is falling into their lap.

Because they attracted it.

The energy they put into their business is clear and strong. They have a beacon of energy and light (no you can’t see it but believe me it’s there) that attracts the things they need.

The Universe is conspiring for them.

Not because they were born under a special star, with magical connections but because the vibration they put out is in perfect vibration with what they want. The Law of Attraction works in their favor. It brings them what they want.

Some will argue. Some will disagree with me, I know.

But how else can they explain that magic dust?

Great article, Karen… I spent a long time trying to rid myself of the “work x hours for x dollars” mindset. I used to be a big believer of hard work, and just couldn’t understand it when so many people, who were “lazy” in my eyes, seemed to have everything handed to them. Now I know the lesson that those people were teaching me (albeit inadvertently.)

I think Wallace Wattles put it perfectly in The Science of Getting Rich - it isn’t what you do, but how you do it - in the “Certain Way”.

It is that “certain way” and it really has nothing to do with “hard work” –still that is a tough one to let go of completely!

I also spent many years trying to work more hours to make more money. I learned to hard way that life doesn’t work that way. I think that is one reason I am so passionate (or obsessed), with personal development. It was this obsession that led me to a much more enjoyable life style.

Life really doesn’t work that way and truly for that I am grateful.
    What is that old saying….
“work your fingers to the bone, what do you get?
    Bony Fingers!!”

Awesome article Karen, and the site looks fantastic too!

I’m just figuring out ways to leverage my time for more money, adding value to what I do so I don’t run out of energy…

I don’t want work to get in the way of my living, I want work to be play, which it is when I do the right amount of it!

    Much joy,
    KL

    Good Wednesday evening Karen !
I think it is intent, followed by effective action, enhanced with appreciation and continued vision.

    Amen Karen

It’s a real paradigm shift to realize and “trust” that all of our needs will be met when we ask for what we want and take actions that we feel guided to take in joy and love.

I watch myself getting caught up in the details when my inner voice yells, “Hey, Lorraine! Lighten up will ya!” And I hear Abraham (Esher Hicks)saying, “Reach for a better thought” and I’m back connecting with what I want to deliberately attract with a smile on my face. Ah- the drama!

    Lorraine,
I am blessed to hear Abe’s voice so often too.

Absolutely true… It’s not just about working hard. It’s also working hard with the right thoughts in mind. If you keep harbouring the same limiting beliefs, you’ll only generate the same actions that brought you that.

That same ineffective results. Awesome article, Karen!

    Cheers
