Make-a-Wish for Magic and Joy

By karen | November 9, 2007

Today I broke out my checkbook, I am writing a check.

It’s a good cause, a poignant cause, a cause that hurt my heart some yet made me feel grateful at the same time.

Yesterday, as we dropped beautiful daughter number 2 off at preschool, the teacher handed us a flier. I could see a photo of a beautiful little girl on it. As we drove away I read the flier, and as I read I could feel that old, familiar feeling of tingling in my nose and my eyes and it wasn’t long before a few tears did escape my eyes and stream down my face. I was somewhat choked up and it took a few minutes before I could tell Kevin just what the flier said.

The flier was a call for donations to help and support a family. Last spring one of the students at the school was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor. Apparently it was malignant, very aggressive and because of its location, inoperable. This beautiful little girl is just 4 years old, one year ahead of my own beautiful daughter who attends the preschool.

The donations are for the Make-a-Wish foundation as they have arranged for the family to have a wonderful adventure at Disney World. I will happily contribute to the cause.

And last night and today I hugged my three beautiful daughters a little longer and little tighter and I offered up a prayer of Thanks and Gratitude that they are healthy and strong and that any challenges that we face at this time are minor.

I hope and pray that the family of the little girl can build some wonderful memories and cherish the time they spend with their beautiful little daughter.

And here just a small reminder in the Season of Gratitude and every day of the year, be Grateful for the children in your life.

They bring us all Magic and Joy.

If you would like to donate to the Make-a-wish foundation to help a child live out a dream you can do so at the Make-a-Wish Foundation website.

[…] Back in November 2007, I wrote a post, “Make a Wish for Magic and Joy about a little girl from my daughter’s preschool and the Make-a-Wish Foundation. That beautiful little girl was able to take a wonderful trip to Disney World with her family. Her wish came true. I remember feeling so happy for their family when we received the news that they were taking the trip. […]
