From Disappointment to Triumph….Sooner

By karen | October 20, 2006

We all experience disappointments in our lives.  We fail the test. We don’t get the job.  The good-looking guy or girl is not interested in dating us.  The car we wanted gets sold to someone else before we can buy it.  We didn’t get the offer on the house. Every one of us has disappointments.  It’s just a part of life.

But if you think back on your past disappointments, you will realize that often (and really more times than not!) something better came along; Something that was better suited and made us happier than whatever it was that caused the disappointment in the first place.  A romantic interest swept you off your feet and the person who didn’t want to date you is forgotten.  You found another car that is just the right make, model and color and it is so much more perfect than the other car.  The job you really wanted all along finally came through and you know that if you had gotten the first job you would have missed it. You know the old saying “Hindsight is 20/20”.  So why do we let disappointments bother us so much?   If only we could see the future and know that something better is out there.

So since you can look back at your life and see that this is true, how can you use this information to help you through disappointments now?
It’s really a matter of your own thoughts and perceptions.  Instead of wallowing in the disappointment and feeling bad, why not remember that something better usually comes along and have the faith and the strong belief that everything happens for the best and something much, much better is in store for you.  Instead of thinking about the failure or the disappointment, press on to the greater achievements and triumphs of the future.  You know it’s out there, the sooner you get over the current disappointment and go after the next triumph the sooner you will get it.

Just believe and know that the Universe, (whatever you conceive that to be) has something better planned for you and Get over It!

I wish I had known this when I was in high school. It would have saved me a lot of pain.
