Jackpots and Love Stories
By karen | July 3, 2008
Today is the anniversary of the day I hit the jackpot in Vegas, clear back in 1994. No, it was not quite the typical jackpot. I didn’t hit the $10,000,000. Progressive or anything of that nature. Not exactly. And it was not at a casino but rather at a Chapel, a little white one, with a big Michael Jordan sign.
The preacher lady said to me “Do you….?” and I said “I do”. And then she looked at Kevin and she said “Do you….?” and he said “I do”. And then she pronounced us and we rode off in the opposite direction of the sunset, (that would be Northeast, home is northeast from Vegas) and into happily ever after. Where 14 years later, we live is such a twilight zone as to have teddy bears sitting down for a picnic in our formal living room, dresses and shoes that I haven’t worn in years mysteriously showing up on the floor when I know they were hung up and put away in the closet and I haven’t touched them and a myriad of different ghosts making huge messes in my daughters bedrooms and in the family room (and really the entire house!) everyday.
Yes, it’s true.
My daughter has informed me about these ghosts. They make huge messes, they spill stuff, they leave peanut butter spoons all over the house, and they lose the spray on sunscreen. I’m not sure what exactly I should do about these “ghosts” but one thing I know for sure. They will not affect my “happily ever after” because that is what I am. Happy!
So in honor of our happy anniversary I am just posting links back to my favorite love stories. Of course, it’s only the favorite ones from here that I wrote. You didn’t expect anything different, did you?
