You May Say I’m A Dreamer
By karen | October 14, 2008
Okay I have to admit it. This Presidential Election year has completely captured my attention! Many are calling it the most important election of our times and I do believe that is probably true for my lifetime so far. It is important this year. There are too many important things happening in the USA and around the world for us not to choose carefully and thoughtfully.
So since my favorite spiritual teachers tell us to focus only upon what we want I thought I would make a list of what I really want, not in any particular order but just a few thoughts about what I would choose if we were all able to create the world in the way that we wanted.
Also I am not publically endorsing either candidate but just talking about what I want. I know who will get my vote. I encourage you to study the issues before you vote and make the wise and thoughtful decision that feels right to you.
1. First off, since it is front and center, I want a strong economy. Not just in the USA but globally. We live in an abundant Universe. There is prosperity in the world. I would like anyone who wants it and will work for it to be able to enjoy it. I want jobs and money and abundance and opportunities.
I want prosperity and abundance and a strong economy.
2. Second. I want Peace. I want World Peace. I want all of the world to work together for the betterment of all and for all of us to accept each other and our differences and allow them to be. I want our homeland to be safe and I also want other people’s homelands to be safe. I know in my heart that there are Mom’s like me in every country in the entire world that love their families and like me, they want a safe and secure home and like me, they want to live their lives to their own highest good. Some may call that naïve….but if you truly look into your heart, isn’t that what you would choose also?
Peace. I want Peace.
3. I want taxation to be fair. I want to pay my fair share of taxes and I want others, be they rich or poor to also pay their fair share. Someone making over $250000 per year can much more easily pay their fair share of taxes than someone making $15000 per year. I want to see the middle class thrive. I want to see the poorer people get to the point where they can also thrive and I want to continue to enjoy watching the rich thrive. We live in the greatest country on Earth.
We all deserve to thrive.
4. I want people to be able to afford and access health care. Again, we live in the greatest country on Earth I believe we should all have the privilege of knowing that we can have healthcare if we need it.
I want affordable and accessible healthcare.
5. I want the environment to be strong and healthy. I want us to find and utilize alternative sources of energy. I want renewable fuels. I want energy independence. I want a healthy Earth for my children and my children’s children and my children’s children’s children and forever on to infinity.
I want a healthy Planet.
6. I want a strong leader and strong leaders who will bring us together. I want the United States of America to be just that–United! I want us all united in hope for a magnificent future. I do believe that all is well and that the Universe is expanding to better and better things. It’s time to come together as a nation and look towards the better things.
I want the United States to be United.
7. I want us all to reclaim the American dream. The dream of freedom and choices and a great country to live in and raise our families and reach our dreams. We can do that. We all deserve to achieve our version of the American Dream.
I want the American Dream for everybody.
*******
And there may be more….As this list is of course, not all-inclusive.
To quote someone you may have listened to in the past….
I hope someday you’ll join us…
and the world will be as one”

On November 4th I will be at the election booth bright and early. I hope you will be too.

Karen,
I really love this post. It’s so clear, and grounded, and compassionate, and really comes from the heart.
I can’t make stumble work for me, but this post deserves to be read by everyone in America.
That’s what I want
