No Competition

By karen | December 18, 2006

Last night 60 minutes did a feature on Larry the Cable Guy.  I found it to be quite inspiring.

Larry the Cable Guy probably doesn’t appeal to everyone.  Heck, I can’t really say he appeals to me.  Sometimes he makes me laugh, sometimes he makes me scratch my head.  But no one can argue with the guys success.  He is a phenomenon!  Apparently he brings in about $300,000 a night, 5-6 nights a week.  That is some big bucks! He is also the number one top grossing comic in the U.S. right now.

None of that is what I found to be inspiring.  What I found to be inspiring is that he mentioned how grateful and amazed he was at how this was happening to him and it occurred to me that the guy was just living the dream he created for himself and it just grew and grew and swept him up away with the momentum of the creation.

Larry the cable guy found his own niche.  He is nothing like any other comic.  He’s his own creation.  He has no competition because there is no one like him and he doesn’t copy anyone else.  He’s not a square peg trying to fit into a round hole, he made his success fit his own mold.

And so it is with all of us.  When we connect to our source and truly live and work and become who we authentically and truly are, we have no competition.  There is nobody who can be a better You than You.  There is nobody who can be a better Me than Me.

And when we follow our own dreams and make them come true there is room for everyones dreams.  Each and everyone of us can have what we truly want because there is no competition.

I would be willing to bet that if Larry the cable guy had told the world that he would be as successful as he is, many people would have tried to destroy his dream. It goes to show that we can be successful in any endeavor, as long as we believe. No matter what others may say.
