Most people understand this but do not realise the second step in the process. To give you an example, it is like a car journey from New York to Los Angeles.

When you are driving this route, you know that you will end up in LA. You know that it will probably take a long time to get there, but you know that you will.

With the Law of Attraction, it is a similar concept. Many people set their goals and expect them to materialise in a very short period. Just as you cannot get from NY to LA in a short drive, you cannot get from where you are to where you want to go in a few days.

After setting their goals, most people do not see much progress after a few days. Once again, this is like driving from NY to LA and getting to Chicago and thinking that you will never make it to LA because you are only in Chicago! In frustration, you turn around and go back to where you came from.

If you simply maintain faith, patience and a positive mindset, you will get from where you are to where you want to be, just as you will get from NY to LA. You just need to keep going, instead of keep turning back.

Ever have one of those days? It doesn’t necessarily have to be a Monday…any day of the week will do. Just one of those days when you just can’t keep your feet on the ground. You just keep floating up into the air and flying around and around in the atmosphere and you just float all over the place. It is just such a struggle to stick to the earth. It’s just one of those days when no matter how hard you try, you just can not make that damn Law of Gravity work!!

Ever have one of those days?

No, I didn’t think so. Gravity works.

And it is the same as with the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction works.

It works every time. It works for everybody. It works. Just like gravity works, the Law of Attraction works.

When you hear someone say “the Law of Attraction is just not working for me”, you can be sure that they are having some deep misunderstanding about what exactly the Law of Attraction is because if it works for some but not for others or if it works for me but it doesn’t work for you, or if it works on Friday but not on Monday (Monday, Monday blah, blah…..again!) then it would not be a Universal Law and it would just be a myth. The myth of the Law of Attraction! I know, some of the Naysayers and the skeptics are cheering right now!

The Law of Attraction states that “like attracts like”. That means that you will attract into your life the vibrational equivalent of the thoughts that you think.

The Law of Attraction is just a way of describing how the world works and how the Universe comes up to meet you.

So if you want more money but you are lamenting the fact that you don’t have enough money, or you want to find love but you are thinking about how hard it is to meet someone…..

The Universe cannot rendezvous with you and meet you because the Law of Attraction can only bring to you what you are vibrating and unfortunately you are stuck in the “complaining for what you have now mode” instead of the “focusing on what you really want mode”.

You don’t get what you want, you get what you focus upon. You get what you vibrate.

So if you want the Law of Attraction and the Universe to rendezvous with you, you have to focus upon what You want!

That is why processes like gratitude, pray-rain journals and vision boards or one of my favorite everyday rituals – the rampage of appreciation can be so successful, because they take your mind out of the reality that you don’t want and help you to direct your thoughts and vibrations back to the end results–which is what you do want.

The Law of Attraction is a Universal law. It works for me and it works for you. But in order to make it work in your favor you have to play by the right rules.
To quote one of my current favorite movie characters….

Now had this person actually READ the post that he hammered here he would have seen that it does talk about getting inspired thoughts and taking actions! Oh and yes it does talk a bit about ?thinking positively (also called daydreaming)?.

And of course, this commenter is absolutely right.

YOU make it happen but can YOU make it happen with negative thoughts and negative energies? No, didn?t think so. If you notice the commenter even mentions that fact himself here in the second half of his comment?.

(yes, those are the commenter?s words?not mine but they are oh, so similar?!)

Well, yes, that is exactly what we are talking about. We just use a nice catchy phrase to describe it?.apparently this commenter doesn?t like our nice catchy phrase.
(geez, I really like the phrase myself. It describes the phenomena in such a succinct way!)

Of course, he essentially agreed with me after telling me how deluded I was! Even though he was apparently offended by the words I used to describe it! Funny how he actually says basically the same thing. Yet it’s true he doesn?t call it a ?Universal Law? or ?The Law of Attraction?.

He calls it a ?YOU?.

Well ?YOU? is a fine personal pronoun, it is very effective for referring to other people to whom you may be speaking but it in no way describes the phenomena of what YOU have to do to create the best things in your life or how the Universe and life steps up to meet YOU when YOU do.

?The Law of Attraction? is just a phrase that describes the phenomena that we can all see.
Look around at life and you see it, it?s absolutely true.

The Rich get Richer and the Poor get Poorer.

The phenomena is that it happens that way for everyone.

Everyone, meaning Me, You and Johnny Babaloo living up in Kalamazoo.

So you may call it the Law of Attraction or you may call it something else but not many can honestly and truly deny the phenomena that it is.

I was the little girl who was going to read every single book in the library. At the time it made no difference whatsoever if I was interested or not because of course, I thought I was interested in everything. And I was so enamored by the new worlds that reading had opened up to me that I just wanted to float away into that magic forever. I was going to be a librarian, just so I could read books all day. And I would read every single book in the library.

Well, I’ve yet to accomplish my lofty goal. I’ve also discovered that there are many books that I’m not interested in. I discovered some of them as I read them (in fact, there is a book I’m supposedly reading right now, it’s been on the bestseller lists forever, it had many great reviews, and I just don’t get it…just don’t like it).

I still love books. I still love to read. So it is no surprise that two of my favorite places online, Shelfari and Amazon are like giant virtual libraries or bookstores. I love to check out the different books and read the reviews and I’m often entertained by the conflicting reviews on certain books.

For example, The Secretby Rhonda Byrne, the reviews on that book tend towards the extremes. It seems to either be the “greatest thing since sliced bread” or “pure drivel”, nothing in between. Nothing.

Now, I’ve read many, many books about the Law of Attraction. I’ve studied it and of course, I believe it. Your thoughts create your Life. Nobody has ever showed me any evidence to the contrary. Even the skeptics can’t argue that when you focus upon something you achieve it. You focus on getting a college education, you get a college education. You focus on achieving in your job and you do better at your job. You practice the piano, you practice your sport, you practice public speaking and you get better at what you practice.

And none of that “focus” is achieved without “thinking”. Simple as that. Call it what you will.

Since I believe that we are Spiritual beings having a Human experience, calling it the Law of Attraction makes sense to me. I want the Universe to assist me. I want to be part of the larger whole and I know there is more than we can see with our limited senses.

But as I read the reviews on The SecretI can clearly see that it doesn’t make sense to many people. They call it “drivel”. They call it “bunk”. They call it “the worst garbage ever written”. They say that “it’s a manipulative marketing tool meant to flatter, confuse and deceive”, “The folly of the masses”, “A Sham”.

And that’s okay. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. It just seems to be a very frightening way to live if we are all just the victims of random circumstances and we have no control over anything.

I believe that we are responsible for our own lives. I believe we can create our own lives and we can have what we want in this life.

And by damn, it feels so much better to think happier, more joyful, more empowered, more disciplined thoughts than to think about negative, nasty things.

It feels better to think about good health, great money and sweet relationships than it does to think about sickness, poverty, and misery.

So I’m believing in all of that “imaaaginary, craaaazy stuff (remember Dr. Fred Wolf from the movie?) Other people can believe the alternative if they choose.

But like I said that sounds way too frightening and scary for me.

And the Universe is proving it to me.

One of the big arguments against the Law of Attraction is someone saying “well, I would never create that because I didn’t want that! How could I have done that? I never would have done that”. Well as one of the teachers in “The Secret” says “I’m here to be in your face and tell you that you did create it”.

And when you recognize that you will tap into your power.

Well I created something that I really didn’t want, Something that I never would have willingly and consciously asked for. However, I can see how I absolutely created it (okay, all of the skeptics can call this anecdote a coincidence starting…now! Of course, I tend towards believing that there are no coincidences… but to each their own.)

My email was down yesterday all day long. Some creative and ingenious pest sent me over 2500 spams and my email system crashed. Completely. First it wouldn’t receive mail, then it did receive the over 2500 pieces of junk, and then it wouldn’t send mail. Just got it completely fixed this morning. So far, so good. I want it to keep working (Yes, I want my email!).

So how did I create this? Well, I can show you the “paper trail”. I wrote this post, Green Lights and Parking Spaces, about being a Powerful creator. My good friend PTT, made a comment about how she was grateful that her hard drive and her email were back to working order after a crash and I (without consciously thinking) replied that it might be nice to be without email if you could just sit back and relax and enjoy it.

I did not mean that I wanted my email to crash. I was really just waxing wistful about the ease and joy of letting it go for awhile and enjoying something else while letting the email addiction slide for just a short time (yes, this comes from me, a woman who has often thought that the simple life of the Amish might be really nice–except for the “no books except the Bible” thing and I really love, no I mean I really, really love and appreciate indoor plumbing!)

So being the Powerful Creator that I am, what did I create?

Something I did not want at all, something I never would have asked for.

But I still say “Wow”. And I realize that I do need to be careful about what I wish for.

Because I am a Powerful Creator.

Now I just need to work on World Peace and an end to global warming…
And (this one is important) ask what can I do to create a Loving Resolution to that one perplexing problem…

and when can I go pick out the Grand Piano for my living room?

I am connected to the Unlimited Abundance of the Universe.

I wrote about this before at Castles and Buttons. I conducted a small experiment to see if I could manifest a button. I did. It was fun and exciting, just a small thing but it brings me good feelings just to look at it.

And that is the point of this post.

Celebrate the small victories! Be grateful for the little things that bring magic to your life. Say Thank you for the green traffic lights and parking spaces (did Louise Hay say that? I think so, but now I am also saying it).

And the Universe will bring you more. The Universe Loves Gratitude. If you get into the habit, you will love Gratitude. It feels good. It’s powerful. It’s amazing.

And it sure beats the hell out of the “Not enough” attitude.

Back in September, I wrote about finding a perfect parking place (A Simple Manifestation) in a place where it is often very difficult to find a parking place at all, let alone a “perfect” one. It may have been a small thing. It was just a small thing. But I was so happy and grateful about it and that day, which could have been very difficult, turned out to be a very good day. And the parking space was just a part of that gratitude.

Well, it has occurred to me that since that day, I have made 3 additional trips to that place (one just yesterday). And three times I found a perfect parking place on the bottom floor, (which was very nice because it was winter), 2nd row.
I was grateful the first time and the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th time, the parking place was just there. I didn’t even have to search for it.

So I can call it a coincidence and that would be just fine. I am happy and grateful for the coincidence.

Or I can say that it is just part of that great synchronicity of Life, a function of the Laws of the Universe and I am grateful for that synchronicity.

Or I can say that “I know that I am a Powerful Creator”. And I’m really grateful for that.

Which feels best?

I’m going to go with the “Powerful Creator”.

And I will continue to affirm and create the extraordinary Life that I want!

Remember to celebrate the little things, the big things, the medium things.

Celebrate everything.

More often than not when I receive a question the person describes the frustrations and the problems they are having and then they end with a question “Why can’t I just……?…make more money, get out of debt, attract a great guy/girl, lose the weight, stop thinking about sex? (yes, that question has come up).

So why can’t you?

Well, from the outside looking in I can tell you what I see. You attract what you think about and what you vibrate so even though you are saying you want “this” you are actually vibrating “that”.

Consider the questions you are asking.

Okay, so that is clear as mud, I know. Let me try to explain in a couple of ways that may make it clearer.

Think about the GPS system in your car. You program it to take you somewhere and it directs your way. Simple and easy, right?

But imagine this. You are in Butte, Montana and you really want to go to Sedona, Arizona (yeah, I dream of the desert!). So you prepare for your trip and you program your GPS in your car to take you from where you are in Butte, Montana to…..Dubuque, Iowa (but of course, this is not conscious, stay with me here). So as you are on your trip, driving along the question comes up over and again “Why can’t I get to Sedona? Why am I not going to Sedona?”

Well it is not that you can’t get to Sedona from Butte, not at all, of course you can get to Sedona from Butte. It is that you did not program your GPS system correctly. The GPS can only direct you according to how it has been programmed!

The same thing happens with your brain and the Universe if you will. The Universe can only give you what you ask for and what you vibrate so as you are asking the question “Why can’t I just…..?” That is the answer you are getting, after all that is the question you are asking. The answer is often coming in a whole slew of unreasonable responses which tend to just make you feel worse and worse and really just get you farther and farther away from your goals.

So think about the questions you are asking. The questions you ask bring you the answers you are getting.

So instead of asking “why can’t I just….?” maybe you could ask “How can I…?” or even better, at least until you get the hang of it all, give up the questions for awhile and just focus on the things you are doing right, the things that you know can get you to your goal.

Look to those things with Gratitude and Appreciation.

If the GPS analogy did not clear it up I have an example of something that happened at my house last night. The thing about this is that it makes it very clear because there is no emotion attached to it. This subject is essentially neutral. Emotionally it doesn’t really matter. Most of the questions we ask ourselves about money, relationships, weight loss etc. tend to have a huge emotional charge. “Why can’t I just ……attract a decent guy/girl? Lose the weight? Get out of debt? Make more money?” are all usually extremely emotionally charged which contributes greatly to our inability to see that our programming is off.

Take the emotion out of it and it really clears up.

Last night I went into my master bathroom, (yes, that would be the one I think of as “mine” as in “no kids allowed!”….I wish!) the floor was covered with about 10 soaking wet towels. Now as any Mom will do my first response was the question “How did these towels get so wet?” and of course, I received a multitude of varied responses based upon “who did this” and “who did that” and why and how it happened. But with all of the responses I received I did not once receive an answer that would tell me how to get the towels dry.

That wasn’t the question I asked!

Now a few minutes later after I had calmed down a bit I asked the right question. “How can we get these towels dry?” Well then the answers that I received were helpful and creative and gave me some good solutions on what we could do to get the towels dry.

I asked the right question and I got the answers I wanted.

Ask the right questions and you start to receive the right answers that will get you where you want to go.

That is how your brain, the Universe and the Law of Attraction work.

Focus on what you really, really want (never, never on what you don’t want!), ask the right questions and the answers will come to you.

Really. They really will.

I believe that. I know that. I think I have always known that, even before I knew I knew.

It is the accessing that causes us the anguish.

It’s like praying for an answer but putting a limit on your prayer by saying “I want an answer, but I want it to be ‘this answer’ ”

And then wondering why your prayer wasn’t answered.

Recently, I was faced with a particularly perplexing question. To quote a favorite song “Should I stay or Should I go” (not that I was going anywhere or staying either, it was not that specific question but rather that kind of question…).

Anyway, it bothered me for awhile, a long time actually. I wasn’t sure of my direction, what I should do, how to handle this situation. I thought about it. I pondered. I must admit I anguished over the whole thing.

Anguishing got me nowhere.

But now I feel like I have clarity, Clarity and Relief.

I will share because I really feel like this has value, real, absolute value.

Before I went to sleep the other night, I got real quiet and I asked for an answer. I asked that the answer be clear to me. That was my only criteria, that it was clear and that I would absolutely know. Then I let go and went to sleep.

I completely released my attachment to any specific outcome. I truly was in the place of “whatever will be, will be”. I didn’t hope or expect anything at all.

And the next day some things happened and all of a sudden everything was clear to me.

I had my answer. I knew. I felt clarity. I felt relief. (beats the hell out of anguish! Much better.)

It reminds me of the old Garth Brooks song “Unanswered Prayers”.

Your prayers are not unanswered.

But the Universe may have a better way than what you can see for yourself.

Let go of your attachment to a specific answer. You must allow the answer in.

Whatever it may be.

So what were we talking about again?

Oh, I remember. I promised to write about how I manifested my soul mate. That would be that man who is going with me and my cohorts as we go trick-or-treating. On Halloween, he is known as “SuperDad” and I am “SuperMom”. It is so great we don’t even have to dress up!

I am so blessed. This is the life I wanted. I am grateful and happy now.

But there was a time when I didn’t know if I could have this life. I was a single mom for 7 years before I got remarried. We did date for over 2 years before we got married so I guess I was only alone for 5 years. It wasn’t always easy. I was lonely and I didn’t know if I would ever meet someone. And I really didn’t want to do any of the regular type stuff to try to meet someone. As I look back now I can see how I attracted what I wanted when I was ready. When I was ready to meet the right person, he came along and I didn’t even have to try and find him.

See the general consensus from the advice-givers (you know, everyone from your mother to your co-workers to the neighbor next door) was to get out there and try to meet guys. In my part of the country that usually meant either going out to the bars or going to church. Neither one of those activities appealed to me. Not that they can’t be fun and that they don’t have their merits but it’s just not for me. It always seemed incongruent to me to try to find the kind of man I was looking for at a bar. I mean after all, I wanted a family man, not a bar-fly. And the majority of the churches in my area would give me the other extreme. I knew I didn‘t want that either.

So, I didn’t date much. Most of the time, I would rather stay home with my son than go out so that is what I did. Based upon my “action” steps, the chances I had of meeting a man were “slim and none”.

But I still wanted this great relationship. I wanted to be married. I wanted a family. It was a process throughout the whole time I was single but I was launching big rockets of desire for what I wanted. One of the things I wanted was to find someone who I loved so much that I would live with him in a tent. (I wrote about that previously at A Love Story and the Law of Attraction).

I was also a “Mom” and I really thought that was a great gig. Yes, I still love that Mommy job! So I wanted someone who would love and care about me and also love and care about my son. I was a package deal, Love me, love my kid, period.

You can see why I wasn’t sure it would ever happen.

But I was already familiar with the Law of Attraction and visualizing so I thought I would try to visualize this person. Well, it is not always easy to visualize an abstract concept. I couldn’t see a face, of course, but I did get to the point just a month or so before I met Kevin where I felt like I could “feel the energy” of the relationship. I can describe it that way now but at the time I just thought I was being silly and imagining something that would never happen. That only happened one time and then I stopped trying to visualize it. I thought maybe I was just being silly and foolish and the “dreamer” that people had always told me I was. I gave it up.

But actually I think now that the “giving up” was the turning point. I became completely detached from even finding a date, let alone a husband. I decided that I would be just fine if I never got married again and I would live happily and create a great life all by myself. I know now that there is a big difference between just saying you are “detached from the outcome” and really feeling “detached from the outcome”. In this case I really let go of any let go of any attachment I had.

About a month later, before Thanksgiving 1991, I attended an early holiday party put on by a Title Company. It was during the day and I just went with a friend. There was this absolutely gorgeous guy sitting at the table with some other people I knew. My friend talked to him but I didn’t because I was too scared. I didn’t often meet anybody that I was so immediately attracted too and I didn’t know how to handle it.

So I watched him over the next few months. I talked to him a few times, just a little bit.
Then one Sunday he came into the office and I was the only one there. We started talking, it turned out that we had quite a bit in common and I felt safe and happy and comfortable with him from then on.

Our actual first date was on Valentines Day 1992 (I know so romantic, and I’m not even a romantic kind of girl–many novels, no romance novels for me!) We got married on July 3, 1994.

We now have five 5 kids, (that would be one each and three together), one grandchild, 1 dog, 2 cars, and a nice house in a cul-de-sac.

And we are both still chasing our dreams (and each other)!

Yes, I am blessed. I am grateful. I am lucky to have this man in my life.

And now I’m off to trick or treat.
