Low Prices? or Abundance?
By karen | August 4, 2008

There is a new grocery store in my area. Well, perhaps not new as it is just a new location for a store that has been in the area for 50 years or so and it has been open now for a few months. But it is still new.
And down the road and around the corner there is a marketplace with the name of America’s largest retailer on it.
If you’re looking to save money it’s best to go to the marketplace around the corner. If you’re not looking for anything special or different, you’re just needing the basics, it will suffice. They usually do have the bare bones minimum, and sometimes some great prices.
The new store usually (but probably not always) has higher prices but they also have a great selection of anything that you might want. This store is shiny and new and it has a wonderful ambience. You walk in and the wonderful aroma of coffee wafts through the air. To the right is the floral section where there is a wide and beautiful selection of fresh cut flowers and plants. To the left is a coffee bar that serves wonderful fancy coffees, teas, gelato and as my daughters have persistently pointed out to me, Ice Cream.
You walk on through and most of the time they have samples of wonderful foods to try. There is a full salad bar, a place where you can sample and bottle local honey’s, a deli with a plethora of different ready made salad’s and foods, and a bakery where they bake unique and distinctive “Artisan breads” every day. There are so many wonderful breads and every day a special bread of the day. If you want a sample they will slice a piece for you then and there. On Friday’s they bake the most delicious Challah bread that makes the most “delish in a dish” French toast that you can imagine. (shhh, don’t tell my Beachbody.com coach!). At the back of the store there is a Chef, who is always cooking something new and wonderful right in front of you and giving out samples.
It’s always a pleasure to shop at that store.
They must train their employees very well because everyone there treats every customer like royalty. And it works very well for them if I do say so myself. One day while perusing the produce section I ended up buying a cantaloupe, some heirloom tomatoes (yum!) and some nectarines that I had no intention of buying just because the produce guy insisted on helping me find some perfect banana’s. I told him that my family loves banana’s and if it is a banana they’ll eat it but he still helped me find a perfect bunch of banana’s and then of course a cantaloupe, some heirloom tomatoes and the nectarines. I swear I only intended to buy banana’s and romaine.
But good service pays off.
Walking into and shopping at this store makes you feel good. Really good. It makes you feel Abundant and Prosperous, like the world is filled with wonderful things and amazing delicacies just waiting for you to partake.
Like you deserve all the Wealth, Prosperity and Abundance that the world has to offer.
And that is why I shop there. I’m sure that is why many people shop there.
It’s the experience.
And when you focus on and appreciate the good things in life you attract more of the good things in life back to you.
And more often than not, especially if you want to create Abundance, that beats the low prices.

Show Me a Sign
By karen | August 1, 2008
I asked.
The Universe answered.

The other day I was driving home from the store and I saw a black car. A really nice black car. I didn’t even know what it was. So I appreciated it for the moment, forgot about it and drove on home.
A day or two later I was with Kevin driving along and we saw the same car.
Kevin remarked “Wow, that is a Bentley” and I responded “Whew, a Bentley?” the question mark hanging in the air.
“yep, that there is about a $250,000.00 car”
“$250,000.00? Hmmm” and we laughed about how it “looked so darn good” and “cost so darn much”. And we happily imagined and visualized having that much money and what we would actually want to have which would probably not be a Bentley but rather a Houseboat on Lake Powell, a Grand Piano, a beautiful second home in the desert……
And we forgot about it again.
The next few days was a chorus of “There’s that Bentley again!” as we saw the same car over and again. It was fun. And as you may have figured out by now that is not the kind of car that we often see around here.
Well today as we were driving we saw another beautiful car. It was silver this time, really beautiful. And of course, I didn’t even know what it was. But Kevin did.
“That is a Maserati”
“Whoohoo, a Maserati? And the only person I know with a Maserati is Joe Walsh”
(Actually I have to admit that I don’t really know Joe Walsh. But I do know that his “Maserati does 185, he lost his license and now he don’t drive!”)
So we appreciated the Maserati and as we were driving down the hill we saw another beautiful silver car but this time I knew what it was, a really beautiful Mercedes convertible. Not a Maserati but still a beautiful Symbol of Wealth. We got into town and as we were pulling into a parking lot we actually saw another one. Another Maserati that is. Two in one day! How often does that happen around here?
We do live in a land of nice cars, but they tend to be SUV’s and minivans and the luxurious among them would be the Escalade in the freak parade. (see the funny video below for reference).
We talked about it, how unusual it was and what it meant.
Those cars are symbols of wealth, the kind of cars that many people dream of, few people own. And we are seeing them all over the place! I’m not even a “car” girl. I don’t dream of cars. I don’t covet a Maserati or a Bentley. But then again, I can’t really imagine what I would think if I saw a Grand Piano rolling down the street and believe you me I already know where every beautiful house in this city is. So how could the Universe send me a sign of a Symbol of Wealth with a piano or a house? And of course, all the decent houseboats are already at the lake.
Cars are perfect.
So we’re seeing our signs. We’re seeing the symbols of Wealth.
And I appreciate it. It couldn’t have been better.
(p.s. I really missed my writing. Today I’m focused on Love and Appreciation for the writing that I love)
